The Seymour Center at 2551 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill, is open overnight as a storm reception center, with Orange County staff on site to assist displaced residents.
A State of Emergency has been declared for Orange County, NC. Excessive rainfall from Tropical Depression Chantal has caused widespread flash flooding across much of the county. Numerous water rescues and evacuations are underway in low-lying areas. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Orange County until at least 2 a.m., Monday, July 7.
Residents in flood-prone or low-lying areas should move to higher ground immediately. Do not wait.
Never drive through flooded roads — TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.

The Town of Carrboro Public Safety asks everyone to please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary this evening. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for Orange County until 1:15 AM, Monday, July 7. Remember to never attempt to walk or drive through flood waters. Turn around, don’t drown.
