Celebrate National Pollinator Week in Carrboro! Free Screening of Vanishing of the Bees

bees movie

You are invited to celebrate National Pollinator Week in Carrboro and attend a free screening of Vanishing of the Bees, directed by George Langworthy and Maryam Henein and narrated by Ellen Page. Around the globe, honeybees have been disappearing from their hives due to Colony Collapse Disorder. The documentary explores potential causes and solutions to this decline and discusses the impacts of honeybee loss to agriculture and society.

One-third of the food we eat consists of crops that were pollinated by the commercial honeybee industry. Vanishing of the Bees will tell the story of two commercial beekeepers from Florida, David Hackenberg and Dave Mendes, and show their pursuit to save their honeybee hives from this crisis. How can you help save the bees? Come to the Carrboro Century Center on Sunday, June 16th, from 3:00-5:00 pm to find out!
