The Council scheduled a public hearing for Nov. 10 on this matter.

The 203 South Greensboro Project - Public Hearing on Schematic Design
The Council held a public hearing to receive public comment on the 203 South Greensboro Project as it proceeds with the development of a schematic design. The Council approved a petition to designate the Area Currently Referred to as Plantation Acres as Barred Owl Creek.

Energy and Climate Protection Plan (ECPP) and Community Climate Action Plan Implementation
The Council received updates on several projects and ongoing efforts. For example, staff are addressing renovation and rehabilitation of municipal buildings and examining building performance. Staff also worked with a contractor to retrofit all fluorescent lighting in the Century Center to LED lighting through Duke Energy’s incentive program.

Transportation Projects Update
The Council received a report detailing NCDOT managed projects, traffic calming, bicycle loan programs, sidewalks and bike lanes.

Comprehensive Plan Process
The Council received an update on plans to engage the community to develop the Town’s first comprehensive plan. With the theme Carrboro Connects, the plan conveys that the Town is listening to residents – and welcomes their input on projects, programs and topics. The goal is to make sure all residents, organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders are given the opportunity to participate. Carrboro Connects is about connecting with every person of every age, race and background and asking “What can we help to create, together?” Register to get involved at carrboroconnects.org

Updates on Murals
The Council revisited the location of the Black Lives Matter message on the Century Center with a request that staff report back on a review of locations and estimated cost. The Council also has previously directed staff to proceed with a mural project at CommunityWorx at 125 W. Main St. Learn more about this project at townofcarrboro.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1453
