We have received several notifications that motor vehicles have attempted to drive down the Frances Shetley Bikeway via the bicycle exit from the new roundabout. This roundabout exit is for bicycles only!
Our Public Works department has installed some measures to ensure that no motor vehicles can access the bikeway. We will be assessing to see if other measures are needed.
It has also been brought to our attention that Google Maps may be misleading in its directions that state “Take the first exit to stay on N. Greensboro Street” thus directing drivers into the bikeway. If you are new to the area or otherwise a visitor to our Town please pay attention to the surrounding environment, not just your driving directions! The Town and others have communicated with Google Maps public interface to request a correction.
