BOARD OF ALDERMEN MEETING SUMMARY
The Carrboro Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. Following is a brief summary of noteworthy actions. It does not include all actions taken at the meeting and should not be viewed as official minutes. Mayor Lydia Lavelle proclaimed April 30, 2017 as “20th Anniversary of the Community Dinner Day” in Carrboro, NC.
Appointment to Board of Adjustment
The Board of Aldermen appointed Linda Bowerman to the Board of Adjustment.
Independent Audit Contract for FY 2016-17
The Board of Aldermen adopted a resolution awarding the audit contract for FY ending June 30,2017 to Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP.
Approval of Activities for the 17-18 HOME Investment Partnership Program
The Board of Aldermen adopted a resolution approving the plan developed by the HOME Program Review Committee for use of $466,407 of 2017-2018 Orange County HOME Program Funds and to authorize the plan to be incorporated into the Annual Update to the 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan for Orange County.

Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness Annual Update
Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness Coordinator, Corey Root, and Board Chair, Allison De
Marco, provided a brief presentation at the meeting and presented the homeless service system map including current system gaps.
Public Hearings on a Pump Track for Intermediate-Advanced Pump Track Riders and on a Community Use of the Cycling Area at Martin Luther King Jr. Park
The Board of Aldermen directed staff to request the following options from the consultant for a report back to the Board:
1) The possibility of locating the intermediate-advanced pump track on town property located at 1124 Hillsborough Road (known as the Shetley property; adjoining Martin Luther King Jr. Park).
2) The possibility of locating the two intermediate-advanced and beginner pump tracks on the Shetley property.
3) The possibility of locating the intermediate-advanced pump track on the Shetley property and switching the location of the youth cycling area with the toddler play area in the current design of the Martin Luther King Jr. Park.
Public Hearing on the Temporary Street Closing Application for the Bladder Cancer Awareness Network (BCAN) 2017 AmpUp! Walk/Run 5k to End Bladder Cancer
The Board of Aldermen adopted a resolution approving the street closing permit application for the BCAN AmpUp! Walk/Run to End Bladder Cancer for Sunday, May 21, 2017. The run is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m.
Public Hearing on the Parking Study and Associated Recommendations
The Board of Aldermen adopted the parking plan and directed staff directs staff to begin developing a strategy and timeline for its implementation, including a prioritization of the report's recommended management strategies and a description of the rationale for that prioritization.
