Work Session:
Discussion of future considerations for the Greene Tract
  • The Board of Aldermen gathered around a work-table to discuss a possible public input process for the future plans of the Bolin 3 and 4 projects.  It was decided that the Board would continue this discussion during their 2019 retreat and have this the sole focus of that retreat. 
Discussion of a public process regarding phases 3 and 4 of the Bolin Creek Greenway
  • The Board intently discussed the public process regarding phases 3 and 4 of the Bolin Creek Greenway. The Board decided to discuss the public process in the 2019 retreat.

The Carrboro Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. Following is a brief summary of noteworthy actions. It does not include all actions taken at the meeting and should not be viewed as official minutes. Proclamations: Mayor Lavelle proclaimed July 2018 Recreation and Parks Month in Carrboro.

Consent Agenda:
  • The Board approved the meeting minutes for the May 15, 2018 meeting.
  • The Board authorized the Town Manager to award a contract for engineering services relating to potential redesign of East Main Street Cross section.
  • The Board authorized the Town Manager to award a contract for preliminary services for the South Greensboro Street Sidewalk Project.   
  • The Board approved to draft a town code amendment to restructure the safe routes to the school implementation committee.
  • The Board approved the updates to the guidelines for the affordable housing special revenue fund.
  • The Board approved a contract for installment financing of vehicle sand equipment included in the FY 2017-18 general fund budget.
  • The Board adopted a resolution to designate the fund balance for FY 2017-18 items not yet spent.
  • The Board approved the request to approve the revised FY2013 and FY 2016 home funds award.
  • The Board approved the revised activities for 2018-19 Home Investment Partnership Program.
  •  The Board approved a committee for the 2019 Pride month celebration.
Other Matters:
  • The Board adopted the FY 2018-2019 annual budget.
  • The Board heard an update on the Affordable House Task Force.
  • A motion for a Conditional Use Permit at Carr Mill to allow improvements to the Weaver Street Market yard did not pass. The Board did request to set a public hearing for this in September.
Public Hearings:
  • The Board passed a voluntary annexation of property contiguous to the town limits.
  • The Board passed a conditional rezoning at 905 and 921 Homestead Road.
